So at first I was confused about why you were so open to racing in Minnesota at any time of the year..and now that I’ve clicked around your blog a little more it all makes sense!!! What do you think of the Gopher/Badger half? Would you allow that race to count for Minnesota and Wisconsin since starts in MN and ends in WI?

  2. Just stumbled upon your blog! I wanted to tell you two great halfs you have to add to your “to-run-list”! I currently live in Little Rock, AR and the Little Rock Half Marathon is WONDERFUL! It’s usually the first weekend in March, and isn’t too hilly! I ran it this year and PR’d! And for the other one, the Nashville Country Music Half Marathon is a great one as well!! It’s in Nashville, TN and is so much fun!!! It’s part of the Rock N Roll race serious, so the crowd is like 30,000 runners! Live music along the course and everything, then a concert that night I think! I’ve done it 3 times, and loved it each time! It’s usually the last weekend in April every year…so it can be pretty warm! It’s also pretty hilly, but nothing you can’t prepare for :) :) You should check them out!!

Thanks for the tips. Both of these races are actually on my radar. I have friends who have done both! I’m not a huge fan of the rock n roll races but the Nashville one is supposed to be lots of fun.

Just came across your blog while seaching for Birmingham’s Half reviews. I have the same goal of a Half/Full in all 50 states. Turns out we’ve run quite a few of the same ones. But I’ve done quite a few in MN and none so far in NY and vice versa for you.
    Have fun. Keep running!

I love this!! One to try in Ohio–the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Columbus Half..it’s always in October and there are little patients and their families at each mile! It definitely keeps you going :)

I have the same goal of running 50 Half Marathons in 50 States. I started in 2012 and I have run 10 states so far. I have a big year planned with 10 planned in the next 12 months! I am just recovering from foot surgery but hope to be in good shape for the Atlanta Half on Thanksgiving 2014! A series of races I would recommend are put on by a group called Vacation Races. They schedule Half Marathons near National Parks and have challenge hikes and activities to promote people exploring the parks as well. I just did the Rocky Mountain Half Marathon in August and my husband and I are going to do The Grand Tetons (Wyoming) and Yellowstone Half (Montana) next June on back-to-back weekends.

    Good Luck to you!

    Carie
