2014 Sochi Olympics Part 1

2014 Sochi Olympics- Not So Perfect Life

Going to the 2014 Sochi Olympic games was a trip of a life time for me…

There are so many things to cover that I don’t even know where to start. I decided to break this photo bump into three post because there are just so many pictures! Here are some highlights.

A) Moscow is really nice for about a day and a half. Then your over it.

B) Russian food is not the best and meat (literally meat, meaning any type or combination of meat) is the main course.

C) The Sochi games were an extremely well organized event and I felt safe 110% of the time.

D) I got to meet so many amazing athletes but the top meet and greet was my favorite athlete Apolo Anton Ohno. More on that in another post. More on this in another post.

Pictures from Moscow and days 1-3 at the games.

The airport had a special check-in section for passengers headed to Sochi.  2014 Sochi Olympics- Not So Perfect Life  At the Black Sea in Alder. 2014 Sochi Olympics- Not So Perfect Life

Short Track Speed Skating 1000M Qualification Rounds and the A & B Final in the Team Relay. Short track is my favorite olympic sport. It is such an exciting game to watch and you never know what is going to happen. Here American Jessica Smith moved on to the quarter semifinals and the Koreans took gold in the team relay.  2014 Sochi Olympics- Not So Perfect Life 2014 Sochi Olympics- Not So Perfect Life 2014 Sochi Olympics- Not So Perfect Life

USA!

Every night the medals were handed out in a big medal ceremony to the Olympians who won that day. It was an amazing experience to see Meryl Davis and Charlie White receive their gold medals and hear the national anthem being played.  2014 Sochi Olympics- Not So Perfect Life 2014 Sochi Olympics- Not So Perfect Life

Day one of trying to get into the USA fan house. Not successful.  2014 Sochi Olympics- Not So Perfect Life The entrance and exit to the coastal cluster Olympic Park.

It’s such a great game to watch. The picture below was for the finals qualification. Canada beat the UK to go onto the gold and silver match.

Sochi organizers must have taken a page from Disney because it was an extremely well organized event. The only thing we were missing was good food (everything was HORRIBLE) and Americans. I was sad to see that US media detoured to many people from coming to cheer on our athletes.

Post number two coming up Friday. The pictures took me all day to upload today. Inflight wi-fi is really bad. After two nights at home I’m back on the road in Mexico. Jet lag is killing me!!!

OMG this is beyond amazing! I am so excited to follow your blog and learn more about the Olympics! I have never been to Russia so this is perfect! And really, it’s all meat over there huh? Well I love meat, so perhaps I would really like it ;) I cannot wait to hear about your Apollo meeting too! AHHH!! And if you met Shawn White, I will be sad because you didn’t give him my number, LOL! I have a thing for competitive snowboarders because I used to be one! ;)

I ate a lot of chicken. You would have ended up eating a lot of bread. Not too many veggies were available and definately no tofu! Re: my hair, thanks I spend a lot of money to get the perfect shade of blonde lol.

  4. That is SO neat you got to go to the Olympics and I’m happy to hear you felt safe there. I love your fur and the theater you went to for the ballet is gorgeous!

  5. This sounds amazing! The company I work for sponsors the Olympics in a pretty big way, so there’s a really big push here to watch and even go to the Olympics. I always thought it’d be neat to go to Russia, but knowing I wouldn’t be able to eat anything kind of makes it a bummer. Your pictures of Moscow are really cool though!
