Summer Weekend In the City

This weekend started out just as any good weekend should in New York CIty…

A Central Park Workout! Unfortunately the subways are awful on the weekend and I was three minutes late to meet my boot camp group so they went off without me. I ran about two miles trying to find them before I just decided to do my own workout. I hardly ever spend much time on the trails in Central Park but it was so hot I needed the shade and the hills to push myself. I took several stops along the way to do bench push ups, step-ups and jumping lunges. My goal was the have sore legs the next day :)

Loving the sweat dripping of my knees as I do elevated pushups!

Even though I never caught up with my boot camp class I had a fun workout. It was nice to get off the beaten path and do some hill repeats on the trails.

To refresh myself after the workout I had to have some iced David’s Tea. Yea I got two teas… I was that thirsty.

After a quick recovery, I got my act together to get ready for one of the second best thing to do in New York during the summer… An outdoor BBQ!

I made several treats for the party, one being an awesome non-vegan and non-diet friendly Homemade Funfetti Cake for my friend Jesse’s birthday. I followed Sally’s recipe over at Sally’s Baking Addiction and OMG it turned out amazing. Seriously the best cake I’ve ever made.

A great weekend with good friends. I love weekends in the city!

What do you do to enjoy summer weekends at home?

That’s such a shame that you couldn’t find your jogging group. I would have been mad as hell. But good on you for doing a workout anyway. Love the look of your cake. Sounds like you have an awesome weekend xx
