National Running Day

When I drug myself out of bed this morning at 6:30AM (I know that’s not really that early, but it sure feels early when you have been pulling long hour work days) I had no idea that it was National Running Day. In fact I didn’t even know it existed… Does that make be a bad blogger/ runner? I hope not!


National Running Day is held every year on the first Wednesday of June. Take a look at the different groups that work together to promote the day. Its nice to see so many big and small city running programs working together. The running community is such a small world really.

As I was doing my quick run this morning (28 minutes to be exact) I was struggling, but I was reminded why I love running. The sun on my back, the breeze hitting my face  and on top of that the endorphins, that’s what keeps me moving! Since I’ve been doing Insanity my running had taken a back seat.  While Insanity is giving me a great workout, I can’t do it anywhere. It’s not as simple as grabbing your running shoes and heading out the door. Running can be fit into just about any lifestyle. It can fix a bad day or help heal your mind.


I’m looking forward to getting back to running 2-3 times a week when I finish the last two weeks of Insanity. Hopefully Insanity has helped improve my pace but if not there are always treadmill sprint workouts EKKK.

Speaking of getting back into running I really need to update you on my race schedule for this year. After running 5 half marathons and one full marathon early this year I’ve really pulled back on my race scheduling for the remainder of the year. Here is the layout for the rest of my running year, pretty simple.

Madison Mini Marathon– August 17th

Hartford Half Marathon– October 12th

I’m also still planning a Ragnar relay race this September but nothing is official on the calendar.

  5. Every time I run, I remember why I like running and wonder why I don’t do it more often. It’s such an easy way to work out! I didn’t run on running day, but I did run the day before!
