Bear Mountain Hike

Today was one of the first non-busy days I have had in a while…

Peter and I ate breakfast at the Clinton Street Bakery, known for their buttermilk biscuits. Then we grabbed our friend Chelsea and drove to hike Bear Mountain which is just north of the city.

Being outdoors on a decent day, life could not be better!

The assent took us a little under an hour, which is not to shabby for the 2.5 mile trek. We chose the steeper more difficult climb which is more fun, but harder on your calves!

Why is there still snow on the ground?!?!?! #tiredofwinter Peter insisted on throwing a few snow balls.

There are a few ways you can climb Bear Mountain. The trail we took was mainly straight up the side.

From the top of Bear Mountain you can see the city in the distance. It’s so close to the crazy hustle and bustle of NYC but yet so far. If it wasn’t so dang windy I could have stayed there forever.  photo-18

Unfortunately the overall journey took us 3 hours due to some minor detours on the way down! Ok, the detour was us being lost, and hungry. We had to do a bit of trail blazing to find the easier path down but we made it.

What an awesome way to spend the day. I love being outdoors when the weather is nice. I know 50 degrees is not tank top and shorts weather but hey I’ll take it!

Did you have off good Friday? How did you spend your day?!?
