Last night I met one of my vegetarian friends @Aishwarya228 for dinner at Pure Food and Wine. We were both exhausted from the week but it was so nice to get to sit down and enjoy a nice adventurous meal together! I was really impressed with the amazing outdoor space at Pure, probably one of the best outdoor spaces in the city actually. I was really excited to try out this place to get a few inspirations for a few new vegan for non vegan recipes! We decided to do our own tasting menu by sharing so we could try everything. Pure Food and Wine had an appetizer with an array of Dr. Cow’s cheeses that I wanted to try to see how they compared to my previous attempts to make nut cheeses! I attempted a macadamia nut cheese two weeks ago and I wasn’t impressed with the taste. From the sampling I found that I preferred the cashew cheese and wasn’t a huge fan of even the professionals macadamia nut cheese. Aishwarya pointed out that the nut cheese doesn’t have the same ‘way you down feeling’ that regular milk cheeses have. I have to agree with her and can’t wait to try the cashew cheese out this weekend!
For the main courses we had sweet corn and cashew tamales with chili spiced portabella and the citrus cream filled squash blossoms and fresh figs. Both were tasty but we agreed that the tamales were our favorite. The citrus blossoms would have been better as dessert.
I’m so glad I got to see my wonderful friend last night! Its been a hard week for my body this week with the heavy workouts and not getting much sleep, but this was a great end to the workweek! Today is Friday and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve got a nice relaxing weekend ahead and some quality time planned with friends and of course Peter. Tomorrow morning I’ll go for my 13 mile week 6 long run with Amanda, my marathon buddy!!! Enjoy your weekend. I’ll let you know how my cashew cheese turns out
